Library of Things Policy and User Agreement
The Norton Public Library loans a variety of items as part of its “Library of Things” collection. These materials are offered as an extension of the Library’s mission to support informal, lifelong learning and recreational enjoyment.
By signing this agreement, the library user agrees to the following:
- Any Massachusetts resident age 18 or older with a SAILS library card in good standing may borrow from the Library of Things. Only one item is allowed per card. Borrowers are responsible for checked-out items and may not lend them to others.
- Items borrowed for up to two (2) weeks with one renewal permitted:
- Ukulele
- Crochet Hooks
- Items borrowed for one (1) week with no renewal:
- Boombox
- CD Player
- DVD Writer/Player
- Laminator
- Moisture Meter
- Planting Tool
- Radon Detector
- Items must be returned directly to a staff member at the Norton Public Library. Do not place items in the book or media drop or return them to another library. Doing so may result in a fine. Items may not be checked out again by the same borrower for at least 24 hours. Late charges are $10.00 per day.
- Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were borrowed. The borrower is responsible for repair or replacement costs resulting from accident, theft, misuse, or neglect. This includes the item and any included accessories (excluding consumables). The total replacement cost may exceed $120.00.
- Any attempt to alter the item is strictly prohibited and may result in loss of borrowing privileges. Altering includes adding, removing, or manipulating device settings.
- If an item malfunctions or requires updating, contact the Library immediately at 508-285-0265.
